Potentially explosive atmospheres are common in petrochemical facilities. We’ve made it our mission to manage risk, maintain compliance and create safety in hazardous areas. We deliver a full range of electrical services to the petrochemical sector, designed to protect people, preserve assets and improve productivity.
Australia’s petrochemical industry has declined significantly since its peak in the early 1970s; many facilities are ageing and require increased maintenance to maintain safe and efficient operation. Electrical equipment in hazardous areas (EEHA), standards and regulations have come a long way since most petrochemical facilities were constructed.
The regulatory requirements in most states and territories require that all EEHA is inspected and maintained in accordance with AS/NZS (IEC) 60079-17. The standard does allow some flexibility in determining the frequency and grade of inspections; however, as equipment degrades, the interval between inspections may need to be reduced to ensure maintenance can be carried out before explosion protection is compromised.
Our team of dedicated and experienced hazardous area technicians are here to help. We use the latest digital inspection platforms to build a full picture of the condition of hazardous area equipment in your facility. We can carry out maintenance and rectification work where non-conformances are found and can help establish tailored, cost-effective inspection and maintenance programs to ensure compliance, preserve assets and protect personnel.
EEHA is a specialist area. It takes knowledge and experience to ensure equipment is correctly selected and installed in accordance with AS/NZS (IEC) 60079-14 and inspected and maintained in accordance with AS/NZS (IEC) 60079-17. We have 50 years of combined experience working with EEHA – it’s what we do.
